#MyPlaylist gets me moving – Tyler Black
Written by Tyler Black, Product Manager, Quest Diagnostics Health & Wellness
My top 3 workout songs are:
- The Crying Game by Boy George – What a powerful song. This is specifically a powerful workout song because it takes me back to Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I feel so much empathy for so many of the tragedies that happen to Ace in the movie and he pushes through them. This song just helps you just push through at the gym. The gym is such a fantastic place to remove the stress of the day. At least you are not trying to save a raccoon from a perilous mountain, right?
- The Sign by Ace of Base – I not only saw, but I heard the sign. That sign called me to the gym. Look, if this upbeat song that you will never get out of your head does not get you either laughing or angry and pumped for a workout…I’m not sure what will.
- The Final Countdown by Europe – Are you planning to face your ultimate challenge? Maybe you’re just going to run a quick 5k or knock out some sets on the bench? The lead up, the guitar riffs, and the nostalgia with the synthesizer make this song perfect for any challenge. I use this song sparingly, but when I need to turn the dial up to to an 11 for my workout, I look no further than here.
According to the American Diabetes Association®, the economic burden of diabetes and prediabetes in the United States is over $327 billion in medical costs and lost productivity each year. However, 150 minutes of exercise each week can help reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes.
As part of Diabetes Month, we want you to share the top 3 songs that get you moving with #MyPlaylist, and challenge your friends and coworkers to participate, as well. To get you started, we’ll be sharing #MyPlaylist entries from our employees on our blog.
