Collaborating to Combat Diabetes
Quest Diagnostics Health & Wellness is proud to announce that we are partnering with the American Diabetes Association® in the fight against diabetes.
There are nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes, and every 23 seconds, someone is diagnosed. People with diabetes are at risk for serious complications including kidney failure, heart disease, stroke, blindness and amputations. Alarmingly, an estimated 8 million people with diabetes are unaware they have the disease.
Before being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, people almost always have prediabetes—a condition in which a person’s blood glucose (sugar) levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be considered diabetes. An estimated 86 million American adults have prediabetes, but 90% of them don’t know they have the condition.
The collaboration aims to identify people at risk for type 2 diabetes by promoting awareness and increasing participation in employer wellness screenings. Additionally, Quest Diagnostics Health & Wellness will donate up to $200,000 to the American Diabetes Association – $1 for every employee biometric wellness screening it completes between American Diabetes Association Alert Day (March 28) and April 27.
