#NowIKnow: taking responsibility for my health is important
Written by Steve Aubrey, Senior Application Support Specialist, Quest Diagnostics
I have been overweight for years. I’d try a diet for a week or so, then, after I wasn’t sticking to it, my weight would bounce back higher. My hemoglobin A1c (hbA1c) had even pushed me up into the type 2 diabetes range. Then my employer offered the Omada Health program, and that helped me a lot.
The program has a good structure, and a good support system. I had a great coach (hi, Lauren!). Taking responsibility for what I eat and how much I exercise has me down about 35 pounds. My BMI is down under 30, and my hbA1c is down to 6.4 (well-controlled for a someone with diagnosed diabetes). Most of my other blood work is either in the “normal” range or headed there, for the first time in years. Blueprint for Wellness® is a wonderful, insight-producing program that’s free – free is good – and it benefits both me and my employer, so that’s a win/win!
