Expand employee screening access with the Quest Diagnostics PSC network
Quest Diagnostics offers a unique screening option for employer-sponsored wellness screening participants: Quest Diagnostics Patient Service Centers (PSCs).
What is a PSC?
A PSC is a Quest Diagnostics location where individuals can have their blood drawn and biometric measurements taken.* Blood taken at a PSC is then sent to one of the Quest Diagnostics laboratories for processing. Many physicians refer patients to PSCs to have blood drawn for routine examinations and diagnostic testing. The process of getting blood drawn at a PSC is often familiar for individuals, making visiting a PSC a comfortable experience. Quest Diagnostics is able to leverage these locations to provide clients a convenient, alternative screening option for their employees.
So, how convenient is it to get a screening done at a PSC?
There are 2,200 PSCs nationwide that employer-sponsored wellness screening participants can utilize. Additionally, over 90% of the American population lives within 20 miles of a PSC. The broad access makes PSC screenings a great option for clients who have a large remote population, a population that frequently travels, and/or a significant number of employees living in rural areas. PSCs also allow individuals who missed an onsite event to participate in their wellness program.
Getting screened at a PSC takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Scheduling an appointment on the participant site is essential, as it sends the electronic order to the PSC and ensures that employees will be screened at their scheduled appointment time.* Individuals do not need to bring a photo ID or insurance card to the screening, as the PSC will be able to look up the individual’s appointment and required tests electronically. The provider working at the PSC will then complete the screening, including a blood draw and all biometric measurements required for the employer-sponsored population health program.
After completing a PSC appointment, individuals will be able to view their results online within 1-3 business days. If paper results are available for a wellness program, a results report will also be mailed to the participant’s home approximately 2-3 weeks after the screening.
Other benefits of PSCs
PSCs give clients the ability to have an inclusive wellness program with a convenient screening option for employees. But there are other benefits to using PSCs, too, including:
- Cost-effectiveness: there are no event minimum charges at PSCs, making a PSC-only program ideal for smaller and/or dispersed populations, as clients are only charged for those who take advantage of a PSC screening
- Flexible hours: employees can make an appointment at a time that fits their schedule; some PSCs are even open in the evenings and on Saturdays
- Expansive testing options: compared to onsite events, a more expansive list of specialized tests can be added to PSC screenings for additional insights

*Not all PSCs are able to take biometric measurements. When scheduling an appointment for an employer-sponsored health screening, it is essential that individuals schedule through the participant site to ensure they schedule an appointment at a biometric-enabled PSC.
